Roger J. Miller

“I help employers control their employment disputes by using prevention strategies.”

If you have an employment dispute involving any kind of legal issue that employers may face, Roger’s 40 years of experience as a labor and employment attorney will come in handy. From union organizing and contract negotiations to emerging employment laws, Roger has done it all.  He continues to work closely with his clients, making sure their employment needs are covered and workplace disputes or issues are handled quickly, effectively and cost-efficiently.

Roger also serves as a Mediator and Arbitrator and is listed on panels of the American Arbitration Association.

Case Studies / Success Story:
Roger handled a situation where a client planned to acquire the assets of a company whose employees, numbering several hundred, had been on strike for 18 months. Replacement employees had been brought in, but the union was seeking to oust the replacements and return the strikers. Roger’s client was worried about how to handle the competing claims to the jobs after the acquisition. The solution involved the client making job offers to the existing workforce on the client’s terms, and then dealing with the demands of the union. Roger oversaw those negotiations, and helped the client and union create a preferential hiring list that resolved the union’s dispute. Roger also got a dismissal on the unfair labor practice charges filed with the National Labor Relations Board.

A critical part of the successful outcome was to develop a hiring and compensation  strategy well in advance, and communicate the terms of employment at or before job offers were actually made.
