Pat is co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and has a national practice in trial and appellate courts.  His recent experience includes defending a nationwide class action under the Packers and Stockyards Act in which a jury returned a verdict in favor of the firm’s client on the case’s main claim and the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the firm’s client on the remaining claim, thus giving the firm’s client a complete victory.  He currently is lead counsel defending an alleged class action involving recalled food products, and he recently obtained an appellate court ruling affirming summary judgment in a case claiming tortious interference.  He has represented defendants who obtained dismissal of an alleged securities class action, an alleged class action involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and shareholder derivative actions.  He also has represented defendants in an ERISA class action and a class action alleging misleading product labeling.  He has represented lawyers from outside the firm in a variety of matters, and he has extensive experience in trade secret cases.  His other work includes representing plaintiffs in securing a million dollar verdict in a case involving claims of securities fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.  Pat was selected to the Great Plains Super Lawyers® in 2009.

Before starting at McGrath North, Pat was a law clerk for Judge John R. Gibson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  Pat has been a shareholder in McGrath North since 1992.
