James G. Powers
Jim is co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Jim’s practice includes jury and nonjury trials and arbitration proceedings throughout the United States. He focuses on business litigation including breach of contract, business tort, product liability and forward and commodity contract arbitration and litigation.
Jim has also litigated numerous adversary proceedings in federal and bankruptcy courts involving preference, fraudulent conveyance and other bankruptcy related issues. In addition, he has served as lead counsel in the liquidation of several large lending institutions in Nebraska.
In addition, Jim advises clients in the drafting and negotiating of commodity and renewable fuel contracts. This part of Jim's practice focuses on uniform commercial code issues and risk issues concerning forward contracts, commodity contracts and netting agreements.
Jim has been a shareholder of the firm since 1986 and is a member of the firm’s board of directors.
