McGrath North's attorneys offer a wide range of legal services related to the movement of goods and resources over highways, waterways and rail. These services cover transportation and logistics matters within the United States and abroad. 

Domestic Logistics  McGrath North has advised clients on an assortment of transportation-related contracts including motor carrier agreements, railcar and barge leases, ocean freight contracts, vehicle and fleet leases, and third party logistics (3PL) agreements. Clients are also advised on a variety of U.S. regulatory compliance matters relating to the transportation industry. In addition, McGrath North has the expertise to handle employment matters including union grievances, wrongful discharge and discrimination claims, and drug and alcohol testing. We also represent clients in litigation involving damage claims, personal injury and contractual liability arising from carrier and other agreements.

Cross-Border Logistics  As part of its transportation and logistics services, McGrath North assists importers and exporters in achieving and maintaining compliance with all relevant trade laws. Importation services include duty determination, marking requirements and other customs advice. From an export standpoint, McGrath North can assist with U. S. government licensing and restrictions, as well as government requirements in the receiving countries.

  • Drafted and negotiated master carrier contracts that cover multiple modes of domestic and cross-border transportation.
  • Represented clients in preparing and negotiating a variety of long-term motor carrier contracts.
  • Structured 3PL arrangements involving product supply management, warehousing and distribution at facilities across the United States.
  • Assisted companies in supply chain security matters including participation in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
  • Devised agreements to cover ancillary transportation needs such as backhaul arrangements, freight brokerage and trailer interchange.
