McGrath North Celebrates Black History Month
As part of its ongoing commitment to expand diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession and within the firm, and to celebrate Black History Month, McGrath North is hosting for all of its employees and lawyers a virtual presentation by the Executive Director of the Nebraska Legal Diversity Council Shawntal M. Mallory on February 23, 2022.
Shawntal, a native of Omaha, and a Creighton University School of Law graduate, will highlight NLDC’s efforts to improve the opportunities for attorneys of color in Nebraska.
For over 20 years, McGrath North has endowed a scholarship at Creighton law school dedicated to support minority students as one part of its broad-based DEI efforts, and was one of the founding members of NLDC in 2021. “The firm continues to take concrete steps to recruit, retain and elevate diverse lawyers, including lawyers of color”, said Cody Brookhouser-Sisney, Chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. “We strongly believe that the unique partnerships of NLDC, which brings together law schools, law firms, corporations and the state bar association, will succeed in opening meaningful career opportunities for lawyers of color across the state.”
