“I focus on the client’s needs, pinpointing the best solution to any legal, practical or ethical matter that may arise.”
Caroline concentrates her practice in the area of ERISA, Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation. She represents clients of all sizes in legal and regulatory matters affecting employee benefit plans and counsels them on plan administration, design, implementation, participant disclosures, and reporting and filing requirements. Her practice includes health and welfare plans, qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, executive compensation, and related tax matters. Her practice also encompasses other benefit-related matters, including wellness programs, health care reform compliance, HIPAA privacy and security, Medicare, and COBRA compliance.
She routinely advises multiple employer plans, companies, and individuals with respect to matters involving qualified and nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements, severance plans, employment contracts, service agreements, welfare benefit plans, equity-based compensation agreements, plan investments, and fiduciary issues. Not only does Caroline advise on day-to-day compliance issues ranging from benefits administration, service provider agreements, and agency filing requirements, but she also covers all phases of the benefit plan compliance process, including plan formation, documentation, plan administration, and design changes.
Caroline has worked with many companies by performing client-specific fiduciary and HIPAA training in order to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements, as well as keeping up with industry standards. She works with not only private companies, but also governmental, university, and church employers. Finally, Caroline offers assistance by either performing a client-tailored compliance audit or by helping a company through an agency-initiated benefit plan audit.
During law school, Caroline worked as a law clerk for the employee benefits group at McGrath North where she gained valuable experience working on health and retirement plans. She also worked to ensure that clients were in compliance with the various laws governing their plans.
