ATTORNEY SPOTLIGHT: April N. Hook

April N. Hook has been recently selected as Co-Chair of McGrath North’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. April and Co-Chair Brian McKernan lead a group of over 20 lawyers who represent mid-size to large national companies in courts across the country.

April’s Work

April has a strong record of assisting companies involved in a wide variety of commercial disputes in federal and state courts across the country. She has successfully represented agribusinesses, construction companies and other entities in contract, insurance and tort litigation across the United States. Her experience includes the defense of multi-million-dollar disputes between businesses, as well as smaller business and personal claims. April’s undergraduate degree in agricultural business and her upbringing in a rural Iowa farming community make her uniquely situated to handle agriculture-related disputes.

April takes pride in advocating for her clients and establishing long-lasting relationships founded on her collaborative approach and successful results. Because of her success, April has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in the area of Business Litigation and has also appeared in the inaugural edition of the Best Lawyers: “Ones to Watch” for her work in Commercial Litigation.

April received her undergraduate degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University, one of the nation’s leading agriculture universities. She then attended Creighton University School of Law where she graduated with high academic honors.

April is enthusiastic about joining McGrath North’s leadership team and recognizes the critical importance of her new leadership role for the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. “Our team has such deep experience, and we want to keep developing talent in key areas that are essential to delivering success to our clients,” April shared. “This requires us to intentionally map out opportunities for our newer team members and to mentor them so they can develop the skills and judgment to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations.” April also explained: “I personally benefited from this process here at the firm, and am able to serve clients in a way to achieve their goals because of it.”

Outside the Firm

Outside of McGrath North, April keeps busy raising her two young children with her husband, Tim. She enjoys traveling, supporting the Iowa State Cyclones and volunteering with her children’s parent teacher organization.
