McGrath North: Women's History Month

0
In honor of the Women’s History Month 2023 theme of “Celebrating Women Who Tell Their Stories”, McGrath North has invited Dr. Eileen Wirth, author of The Women Who Built Omaha to share the stories of the groundbreaking women who played major roles in the history of Omaha at an upcoming firm event. Dr. Eileen Wirth is a professor emeritus of journalism at Creighton University and a senior writer for Legacy Preservation. A native of Nebraska City, she was a reporter at the Omaha World-Herald and a public relations writer for Union Pacific Railroad before joining Creighton in 1991. She chaired the Department of Journalism, Media & Computing for 19 years and retired in 2016. Wirth has written eight books including several on regional history.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day recognizing the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women that also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. This year’s theme, “Embrace Equity”, is meant to remind us that equal opportunities are not enough, and that true inclusion and belonging require equitable action – equality is the goal, and equity is the means to get there. Our firm is honoring International Women’s Day by recognizing all our women who form the core of the present and future of McGrath North. “Saying a difference is needed in advancing women in our profession is insufficient; each of us is responsible for embracing fair treatment, access, opportunity and advancement for all, and we must continue our focused efforts to act in hiring, act in promoting and act in celebrating the strong team of women at McGrath North”, emphasized Stacey Shadden, Board member and Chair of the firm’s Business & Corporate Practice Group and chair of the firm’s Privacy and Cybersecurity team. McGrath North is committed to embracing equity in the workplace, in working with our clients, and in our community.
