Nebraska Supreme Court Holds Court at Bryan High School

On April 2, 2025, McGrath North attorney Abbey Moland took part in the Nebraska Supreme Court’s special session held at Omaha’s Bryan High School. This initiative, supported by the Nebraska State Bar Foundation, underscores the importance of civics education and aims to bring the judicial process to life for high school students.

During this unique session, students had the opportunity to witness a real Supreme Court argument, specifically the case of Fey v. Olson. Abbey provided to students with insights and explanations into what to expect during a Nebraska Supreme Court oral argument and introducing legal concepts used in connection with the case. Joining Abbey was Ceci Menjivar, a Bryan High graduate and attorney with the Douglas County Public Defender’s Office, who shed light on the differences between trial and appellate courts.

This event was a fantastic opportunity for Omaha Public School students to learn about the judicial system firsthand and engage with the very fabric of our democracy. As Principal Anthony "CK" Clark-Kaczmarek aptly stated, this experience is not just about witnessing a court session—it's about inspiring and educating our future leaders.

Abbey, who is a Nebraska State Bar Foundation Board member is grateful to be part of such an impactful outreach initiative and enjoyed seeing the excitement in the students as they connected their classroom learning to real-world applications.
