McGrath North Announces Practice Group Expansions


McGrath North is pleased to announce that Amy K. Bagge, Austin C. Bradley, Luke C. Holst and Elizabeth Bruening Smith have joined the firm.

Bagge, AmyAmy K. Bagge, formerly with Kutak Rock, joins the firm’s Technology and Intellectual Property practice group.  Her expertise covers a wide variety of information technology and intellectual property matters including trademark clearance and protection, custom software development agreements, use of open source technology and securing and protecting sensitive personal data.  Amy earned her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2011.

Bradley, AustinAustin C. Bradley brings more than 8 years of experience in tax and estate planning to the firm’s Tax practice group.  He will assist clients in all areas of federal and state taxation, estate and gift planning, estate and trust administration, business formation, reorganization and succession planning solutions. Austin received his Master of Laws degree in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and his law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2006.  Austin is the third McGrath North attorney to earn the Master of Laws distinction. Prior to joining McGrath North, Austin practiced law at Ferrari, Ottoboni, Caputo & Wunderling, a California law firm.

Holst, LukeLuke C. Holst, a licensed patent attorney, joins the firm’s Litigation group and Technology and Intellectual Property group.  Luke has significant experience in both patent and litigation matters. His patent work covers a wide range of technology areas including mechanical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and agriculture.  Luke was previously with McKee, Voorhees and Sease, a Des Moines law firm and also worked as a patent examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Luke received his law degree from Creighton University School of Law in 2005.

Smith, Elizabeth BrueningElizabeth Bruening Smith joins the firm’s Litigation group.  Liz has extensive litigation experience in both state and federal courts.  She was previously with Engles Ketcham and also worked as a judicial clerk for the Fourth Judicial District of Iowa.  Liz earned her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2007.
