The very first bill signed into law by President Obama, the Lily Ledbetter Act, related to equal pay. Equal pay remains a matter of interest. On April 8, 2014, a presidential memorandum was issued which also relates to equal pay and which directed the Secretary of Labor to, within 120 days of the memorandum, propose a rule that would require federal contractors and subcontractors to submit to the DOL summary data on compensation paid employees, including data by sex and race.
